A violinist shaped by a deep dedication to both performance and education, Tina Chang Qu studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School under legendary mentors including Dorothy DeLay, Felix Galimir, Jaime Laredo, and Ida Kavafian. Her career has taken her to the stages of Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein in Vienna, Disney Hall in Los Angeles, and London’s Barbican Hall, among other world-renowned venues.
As a guest musician, she has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and under the baton of many world-leading conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Simon Rattle, Andre Previn, James Levin, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Herbert Blomstedt, Kurt Mazur, Christoph Eschenbach, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gustavo Dudamel, and James Conlon. Among the artists she has collaborated with are Placido Domingo, Mstislav Rostropovich, Yo-Yo Ma, Gil Shaham, Hilary Hahn, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Peter Serkin, Leon Fleisher, Andre Watts, Evgeny Kissin, Andrea Bocelli, and others.
Tina is also a former member of the Los Angeles Opera and joins the Detroit Opera from time to time. An active educator as well as performer, she currently serves on the faculty of Interlochen Arts Academy, where she works closely with young musicians from around the world. Her commitment to outreach and mentorship includes giving masterclasses across the United States, China, and Vietnam, sharing not only technical insight, but also a passion for emotional communication through music.
