Morgan Hare is a classical and jazz trumpet player with a particular passion for orchestral music.
They graduated with a Bachelor’s in music performance from Grand Valley State University in 2024, where they performed as principal trumpet in the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, New Music Ensemble, and as lead trumpet in the jazz orchestra. While studying at McGill University, they held positions as principal trumpet with the Wind Orchestra, Contemporary Music Ensemble, lead trumpet with the jazz orchestra, and performed with the McGill Symphony Orchestra.
At both institutions, they performed with jazz combos and chamber brass ensembles, including the Grand Valley State University Faculty Brass Quintet and the [REDACTED] Quintet.
Outside of university, Morgan has also performed with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique des Musiciens en Montreal, Holland Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Michigan Symphony, and Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, and they were an associate member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago during the 2024 - 2025 season. Currently, they are a core member of the Traverse City Philharmonic.
Their notable performances include featured soloist with the Blue Lake Festival Orchestra (2015), Grand Rapids Symphonic Band (2016), Grand Valley Symphonic Band (2021), and frequent solo recitals. Morgan was the second prize winner of the International Trumpet Guild Orchestral Excerpts Competition (2023) and a semi-finalist in the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition (2024).
Morgan currently teaches privately both through the TC Phil Community School and their private studio based near Grand Rapids, MI. In their free time, Morgan is an avid fan of horror cinema, and enjoys spending time with their husband Ben, and their four cats: Tchaikovsky, Buddy, Rimsky, and Korsakov.
