The Elnora Milliken Legacy Society

Leave a legacy that keeps the music playing for generations to come.

Our founder’s vision

Elnora Milliken founded the Traverse City Philharmonic in 1952, and her vision continues to inspire us today. All who include the TC Phil in their estate plans become members of the Elnora Milliken Legacy Society — and share in the pride of knowing their enduring gift will sustain the orchestra for years to come.

“As firm believers in quality classical music, we are bequeathing a significant gift to our superb orchestra for the continuing enjoyment by all who attend its performances.”— Gladys & Tom Maguire, Legacy Society members
Why leave a legacy

A gift that costs nothing today

A planned gift is any gift arranged through your financial or estate plans. It often lets you make a larger impact than you could in your lifetime, with meaningful tax advantages for you and your family. Your attorney or advisor can help you choose what’s right — and we’re glad to help at any step.

Ways to leave a legacy

Choose what fits your plans

Gift in your will or trust

A bequest of a specific amount, a percentage, or what remains of your estate. We can provide sample bequest language for you and your attorney.

Beneficiary designations

Name the TC Phil as a beneficiary of a retirement account, life-insurance policy, or bank account — simple and revocable.

Gift from your IRA

A Qualified Charitable Distribution lets those 70½ or older give directly from an IRA, tax-free.

Appreciated securities

Gifts of stock or other appreciated assets can reduce capital-gains tax while supporting the music.

Donor-advised funds

Name the TC Phil to receive remaining DAF assets, or recommend a grant now.

Gift annuities & trusts

Charitable gift annuities and remainder trusts can provide income to you or your family. Ask us how.

Have you already included us — or ready to start?

Complete our Declaration of Future Intent so we can thank you and welcome you into the Legacy Society. All information is confidential and non-binding.
